The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of improving the circulation of blood by the care for sensitivity to cold. We evaluated by morphology and blood flow velocity using peripheral capillary observation with microscopy, fingertip blood flow, thermography and deep body temperature after hand bath, foot bath. After hand bath in women with cold sensitivity, the skin surface temperature of the forehead increased and the fingertip capillaries expanded. After footbath, there was no difference in deep temperature and skin surface temperature between the cold sensitivity group and the control group. However, fingertip blood flow and fingertip capillary blood flow were significantly changed by footbath in the cold group.
In conclusion, the improvements in peripheral blood flow were observed with fingertip blood flow and peripheral capillary observation. Women with sensitivity to cold may have different blood flow changes than healthy women. -

In the present study, we compared effects of reduction of edema with three indices. Females participated in this experiment. All subjects measured 1)the cell inside and outside water ratio (I/E ratio), 2)ultrasonic image, 3)fingertip blood flow in the morning and the afternoon. It was difficult for slight edema to evaluate in the index of an ultrasonic image and a fingertip blood flow. I/E ratio in the afternoon decreased as compared with it in the morning. It was thought that it was necessary to choose using an index suitable for the evaluation purpose.

Maintenance of eating position in patients with cerebrovascular disease

This study aimed to develop an effective technique to support the eating position of cerebrovascular disease patients for safe mastication and swallowing, postural stability, and the prevention of pressure sores. Data were obtained through aliterature search and a review of clinical training and experimental and case studies. The results revealed that assessment in the acute phase of stroke recovery followed by early adjustment of the inclination angles of neck and trunk and stable maintenance of the position were key to the recovery of eating and swallowing functions and prolonged sitting position. Such intervention also resulted in increased dietary intake, extension of daily living activities, and early hospital discharge.

Research on the Development of the Physical Assessment Training Program for Fresh Nurses

Full body physical assessment criteria were selected from multiple nursing textbooks and made into a list. Based on this list, fresh nurses for each fiscal year were surveyed every three months to ascertain their comfort with the physical assessment. Results showed that regardless of the fiscal year, measurement that can be expressed with numbers, such as vital signs, height, weight and SpO_2, was the physical assessment criteria that nurses were comfortable measuring by themselves immediately from the start of employment. Criteria that they did not feel comfortable measuring by themselves even after one year were criteria that required the use of the five senses, such as listening to breath sounds. This suggests the need to implement criteria that employ the five senses, in particular those that relate to listening to sounds, in fresh nurse trainings.

足浴に用いる「香りの違い」による入眠促進効果を明らかにするため、3種類の香りの比較検討を行った。被験者は、健康な女性8名であり、脳波(16ch)、皮膚温(右手掌、胸部、左上腕、左下腿、左下肢)、血圧、心拍数を指標とした。実験は、室温(25-27℃)、湿度(50-60%)に維持した実験室で行い、閉眼安静15分間の後、10分間の足浴を行い、その後30分間閉眼にて安静状態を維持した。足浴は湯温40℃で外踵がつかる程度の湯量とした。足浴中は香り提示システムにより、被験者がわずかに自覚する程度の香りをマスクから流した。提示した香り条件は、(1)ラベンダー、(2)オレンジ、(3)サンダルウッドの3条件である。脳波の分析は、全てのデータをFFTにより周波数解析し、θ波、α波、β波の周波数帯域別にパワー値を算出した。それらのデータから、α波が50%以上消失し、低振幅θ波が出現する睡眠段階1を入眠期とし、入眠期の出現時間と持続時間を出した。皮膚温、血圧、心拍数は、5分間の平均値を算出し、比較した。脳波の結果から、3つの香り条件を比較したところ、入眠期の出現時間、および持続時間には香りによる有意な差は認められなかった。また、脳波以外の指標でも条件間に有意な差は認められなかった。いずれも香りでも足浴終了後、5-20分後に入眠期を迎えていたが、これは前年度行った研究での足浴のみ条件と同様の結果であっ...

香りを負荷した温熱刺激を伴う看護技術の生体への効果を明らかにするために、本年度は特に入眠効果に焦点を当て、温熱刺激または、温熱及び「香り」の複合効果を検討した。睡眠及び食事時間を調整した健康な男性7名を被験者とし、香りを負荷した足浴と付加しない足浴を実施し、脳波(01,02)、皮膚温(右手掌、胸部、左上腕、左下腿、左下肢)、血流量(右手掌)、心拍数を指標に香りの有無による入眠効果を比較した。室温(25〜27℃)、湿度(50〜70%)を保ち、照度も10ルクス以下に調整した実験室で、閉眼安静15分後に足浴を10分間施行し、その後30分間閉眼にて安静を維持した。香りを付加した足浴では、前年度作成した香り提示システムを使用し、足浴中に被験者が自覚しない程度の香りをマスクから流した(オレンジオイル0.05ml,流量60〜66ml)。脳波の分析は、すべてのデータを30秒毎にFFTを実施し、θ波、α波、β波の周波数帯域別にパワー値を算出した。それらのデータから視察により睡眠段階を判定した。α波が消失し、低振幅θ波が出現する睡眠段階1を入眠期とした。皮膚温、血流量、心拍数は、5分間ごとに平均値を算出し、比較した。その結果、脳波による睡眠段階評価では、香りの有無に関わらず、足浴後すべての被験者が入眠しており、足浴が入眠を促すことが考えられた。入眠開始時間は、香りの有無による差はほとんど認められ...
